What "free" actually means here
The free plan gives you GST invoicing, the udhaar khata (credit ledger), party management and stock tracking, on the web and on the Android app, for as long as you want to use it. There is no credit card at sign-up and nothing expires after two weeks. What it does have is a cap on how many bills you can raise in a month, which is the honest way to run a free tier — you pay when the shop grows, not when a timer runs out. Your data stays yours either way, and it stays in the account whether you upgrade or not.
Where free software normally catches you out
Three traps are common in this market. The first is the trial dressed as a free plan, where everything works beautifully until day fifteen and your billing stops mid-month. The second is the branded invoice: your customer receives a bill with somebody else's logo on it, which looks amateurish and quietly advertises against you. The third is the data lock — the free tier will not let you export, so leaving means re-typing years of parties and items. None of those apply here: the invoice carries only your details, and your data exports whenever you ask for it.
Who the free plan is genuinely enough for
A single-counter hardware shop, a new cement and steel dealer finding their feet, a sanitaryware or paint retailer doing a few bills a day — the free plan covers all of them properly, not partially. The shops that outgrow it are the ones billing every hour, running several staff logins, or supplying sites where the challan and delivery record are used constantly. When that happens the paid plan is a few hundred rupees a month, which by then is a rounding error against what the shop is turning over.
How we make money if the plan is free
It is a fair question and the answer is simple: enough shops outgrow the free plan. A dealer billing forty times a day, running three staff logins and sending challans to sites every morning gets more value from the paid plan than it costs, and upgrades because the limit is in the way rather than because a trial expired. That model only works if the free plan is genuinely useful, so making it useful is in our interest. There is no data selling, no advertising in the product and no charge buried in the fine print — the pricing page is the whole story.
