Why We Built MaterialBill for Material Shops
Because a steel and cement shop cannot run its billing on software built to suit everybody.
Most billing apps are built for every trade at once — kirana, boutique, restaurant, all on one system. But the building-material trade works differently: steel (sariya) sells by the kilo at a rate that changes daily, cement sells by the bag at 28% GST, sand and aggregate are measured in CFT, goods go straight to site and payment arrives 60 days later. We built MaterialBill to handle exactly that — the name says what it does.
We are Givni Private Limited, working out of Patna and Kolkata. Our first users were building-material traders in Bihar, and the product was built sitting in their shops. That is why it carries the things bigger apps leave out — a line for transport (bahara) charges, a contractor's ledger, and staff GPS attendance that flows through to salary.
What we believe
- Simple beats powerful. A feature a shopkeeper cannot learn in half an hour is not a feature, it is a burden.
- Support in your language. The software may be in English, but the help you get is in Hindi.
- Your data belongs to you. Export it whenever you want and leave whenever you want — we do not hold data hostage.
- Straight talk. If we do not have a feature, we say so plainly. Our comparison pages list what the competition does well too.
