Specification-led item entry
For plant supply the item name has to carry the specification — size, grade, brand — because it will be matched against the order later. Enter those carefully. The township retail side is the usual short list of cement, TMT, sand and fittings, quick to set up with correct units. Both live in the same item list and both bill from the same screen.
Township retail alongside plant supply
The townships around the works give Bokaro dealers a steady retail trade in hardware, sanitaryware, paint and electrical alongside the industrial side, and the two need very different billing. One is a thirty-second cash sale at the counter; the other is a referenced invoice against a purchase order. Both are the same document here with different fields filled, updating the same stock and the same ledger, which is what stops a shop running two systems.

Bokaro's trade is shaped by the steel plant and the contractors around it, so a dealer here deals in volumes and specifications that a general shop does not. Rebar by size, structural sections, and industrial hardware move to buyers who order against drawings and pay against documents. When the buyer is working to a drawing, the invoice has to state exactly what was supplied — size, grade, brand — because it will be checked against the specification later. Holding those as part of the item rather than as a note means the bill says it automatically, and there is nothing to query. The same detail is what a quality dispute is settled from months afterwards.
Deliveries, gates and records
Material going into a plant or a project site passes a gate and a store, and both keep their own record. Yours has to match. A challan carrying the date, vehicle number, quantity and the name of whoever received it, held against the party, is what reconciles against theirs at month end — and where the load crosses the e-way bill threshold, the figures are already on the record.
