A junction town trades outward
Being close to three state borders means a share of the trade crosses them, and an inter-state sale changes the tax treatment from CGST and SGST to IGST. That switches automatically once the buyer's state is set on the party record, with the correct state code printed, and the transport details for the e-way bill are already captured on the delivery.
Timber and panel units
The wood industry buys plywood, panels, adhesives and hardware to production schedules rather than for single jobs. Grades, thicknesses and sheet sizes are all separate products with meaningful price differences, and entering them generically makes both stock and rates unreliable in exactly the trade where a customer knows the difference.
Long-standing accounts still need records
In a market where relationships run for years, the temptation is to keep less paperwork. That is backwards — an old relationship is the one you cannot afford to damage with a dispute. A statement sent monthly, unprompted, keeps the account clear before it becomes a conversation, and both sides look at the same detail.
District deliveries
Loads go out to towns across the district and across the borders on hired vehicles. The challan carrying the date, vehicle number, destination and receiver is the only record that survives the run, and it stays against the party rather than travelling back in a driver's pocket.
Setup by phone
Thirty minutes covers your shop details and GSTIN, main items with the right units, parties with opening balances and your bill format. Questions afterwards go to a Hindi-speaking person on phone or WhatsApp.
