Terrain decides everything
Material reaching a site in Shimla may be carried the last stretch by hand or by a small vehicle, and a load that cannot be delivered is a load that costs you twice. Recording the delivery with the vehicle, the destination and the person who received it is the only way a disputed drop is settled, and it is more common here than on the plains.
A season that closes
Building happens in a window, and stock has to be in place before the weather turns. That makes the pre-season order the decision that determines the year — it cannot be corrected mid-season, and last year's movement over the same weeks is the only honest basis for it.
Tourism and hospitality building
Hotels and guesthouses build and refurbish between seasons, buying finishing material in quantity and to a specification. Brand and model on the invoice matter here because a second-phase order months later has to match what was supplied first.
Inbound freight and landed cost
Almost everything comes up from Punjab and Haryana, which makes inbound freight a real share of what the stock cost. Recording it against the purchase gives a landed cost you can price from, rather than a supplier invoice value that understates what you actually paid.
